35th Malaysian Red Crescent Kuching Chapter AGM

On the 30 April 2009, Malaysian Red Crescent Kuching Chapter had held their 35th Annual General Meeting at Kuching Chapter. Our Unit had won for

• The Best Youth Unit (15 consecutive years)
• Best Prepared Annual Report
• Best Flag Day Collector

Kuching High Red Crescent Youth Unit had successfully representing Kuching Chapter in participating the Interchapter First Aid Competition 2009. A team consisting of 5 members had performed very well in this competition and be awarded for our performance. We had achieved:

• BEST BANDAGING AND IMMOBOLISATION RELAY
• BEST TEST SCENARIOS
• OVERALL CHAMPION

As for becoming the Champion team in this competition, the team from Kuching High Red Crescent Youth unit has been selected to represent Sarawak Branch to participate in the National level competition which will be held in the end of May at Negeri Sembilan.

We would like to take this opportunity to thanks Kuching Chapter, the Kuching High School, all the teachers-in-charge of Kuching High Red Crescent Youth Unit, ex-leaders and those who have directly or indirectly in giving us proper guidance and advise to go through this competition.

Interchapter First Aid Competition 2009

Kuching High School Red Crescent Youth Unit is going to participate in the Interchapter First Aid Competition 2009 today. A team consists of 5 members has been sent. They are:

• David Wong
• Eleen Wee
• Tan Yee

• Date: 1-3 May 2009

We hope that the participating team can succeed in this competition and bring up the name of Kuching High School Red Crescent Youth Unit as well as Kuching Chapter.

Report of Intersection First Aid Competition 2009

Our unit had organised an annual activity on the month of April which is the Intersection First Aid Competition 2009. Intersection First Aid Competition had been successfully carried out on 19th April 2009 at Kuching High School.

This camp was opened to old members with the aid of some intermediate members and new members as casualties. The objectives to organise this competition are to upgrade the first aid basis and skills of the Kuching High School Red Crescent Youth Unit members, to instill leadership qualities, discipline, and teamwork among Kuching High School Red Crescent Youth Unit members from different sections and lastly to foster better understanding and friendship among Kuching High School Red Crescent Youth Unit members. Participants were divided into 10 groups according to the 5 sections which are K, H, S, R and C and. Those 5 sections are further divided into Senior and Junior Team respectively.

Many activities had been carried out for the participants. Among the programmes that carried out were Quiz Bee, Relay Bandaging and Immobolisation, Classical and Traditional First Aid and Community Base. Activities that carried out not only let the participants to enjoy but to learn something through taking part in these activities. For example, they learned first aid knowledge from Quiz Bee and Relay Bandaging.

Throughout this event, some outstanding sections had been discovered and be awarded prizes. The Best Quiz Bee went to Section Senior S. The Best Relay Bandaging and Immobolisation was won by Section Senior C whereas Section Senior K was the winner for Best Classical and Traditional First Aid. Section Senior S aroused to become the winner for Best Community Base. The Best Senior and Junior team was won by Senior S and Junior S respectively. The overall 1st Runner Up went to Section K and Champion went to Section S as well.
